From New Line Cinema, Peter Jackson and Warner Bros. comes J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, brought to the big screen in an epic trilogy. Weta Workshop was thrilled to return to Middle-earth once again, contributing design, specialty props and specialty costumes to all three films.

Dimensions: 10.23" x 4.72" x 8.66" (W x H x D) 26 cm x 12 cm x 22 cm

Weight: 3.9 lbs (1.77 kg)

Deep within the ruins of Dol Guldur, spells of concealment hide a dark secret. Within the maze of gloom and thorns a grim courtyard lies, where the shadowy Necromancer summons forth the mightiest of his fell servants.

Adding to the previously launched Palantír Courtyard, you can now get the South Courtyard as well.

From the same team who worked on The Hobbit motion picture trilogy, comes Dol Guldur: A 1:30 Scale Collection. For the first time ever, collect your very own Middle-earth scene piece by piece and populate it with miniature figures of your choosing.

A place of dread, Dol Guldur is a ruined fortress deep in Mirkwood. Long was it thought to have been abandoned, but quietly have dark things crept into its passages, and beneath spells of concealment the Dark Lord Sauron has gathered his servants to him.

Rumour of a Necromancer drew Gandalf to the hill of Sorcery, where his suspicions were confirmed. Now the White Council must put for its strength to rescue the Grey Wizard and put the forces of darkness to flight. The stage is set for a battle of immortal powers.

After a lot of debate we decided that the first scene we’d do at 1:30 scale would be the Dol Guldur scene from The Hobbit. This is a great scene because you have so many of Middle-earth’s big heavy-hitters in it: you’ve got elves, you’ve got the Istari, you’ve got Sauron and you’ve got Ringwraiths.

Weta Workshop has developed its 1:30 scale range with accessibility for the collector in mind. Rather than one large bespoke piece, each scene fits together as a series of modular elements that can be built up over time. Collectors can then place miniature characters within the scene in limitless configurations.

The environments are available in a Limited Edition of 500 each.

Add to your set with more characters and environment pieces!

All the figures in this series are Open Edition.

Figures are made of metal, on polyresin bases
